“Tradition and the Individual American in Nathaniel Hawthorne and Flannery O'Connor” - Dr. Farrell O'Gorman

On Februrary 13, 2026, Dr. Farrell O’Gorman spoke to Valor Institute retreat participants about the surprising relationship between the American writers Flannery O’Connor and Nathaniel Hawthorne. As in many an O’Connor’s short story, the hidden workings of grace and charity wove the lives of these two authors together, as O’Connor herself related in her “Introduction to A Memoir of Mary Ann.”
