Dr. Wilfred McClay

Chair in Classical History and Western Civilization, Hillsdale College

Dr. Wilfred McClay holds the Chair in Classical History and Western Civilization at Hillsdale College. The author of several significant works, including The Masterless: Self and Society in Modern America, Why Place Matters: Geography, Identity, and Public Life in Modern America, and most recently Land of Hope: An Invitation to the Great American Story.

Dr. McClay has served on the National Council on the Humanities, the advisory board for the National Endowment for the Arts, and the U.S. Commission on the Semiquincentennial.
