Peter Crawford is the Chief Academic Officer at Valor Education.  Prior to joining Valor, Peter acted as the Academic Dean for the Institute of Catholic Liberal Education, where he directed the School Services team, led program development, and worked with K-12 schools and dioceses on a national and international basis to help foster best liberal arts curricular and pedagogical practices.  He also worked in leadership formation and consulted with numerous school leaders to help them be effective, vision-aligned leaders of their school communities.

Before joining the ICLE, Peter was the founding headmaster of the St. Jerome Institute in Washington D.C. and the founding headmaster of Great Hearts Monte Vista North and South in San Antonio, Texas.  As a founding headmaster, Peter’s responsibilities included hiring, coaching, and leading faculty, developing curriculum, and establishing beautiful school communities.

Peter began his career as a History and Humane Letters teacher at Glendale Preparatory Academy, a classical charter school in Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to teaching, Peter acted as a Lead Teacher, responsible for regular classroom observations and faculty coaching.

Peter received his Master’s and MPhil(ABD) degrees in philosophy from the University of Leuven in Belgium and completed his undergraduate studies at Ave Maria University. Peter and his wife Nikki live in Tampa, Florida, with their seven children, four girls and three boys.
