In this May 6, 2026, Dr. Adam Seagrave began our retreat on Orestes Brownson’s The American Republic with this lecture about the place of Catholicism in the American political tradition. While some past and contemporary observers have deemed Catholicism and the American order irreconcilable, the Founders’s emphasis on natural rights shares deep correspondences with the Catholic natural law tradition.
