Valor Kyle FAQs & Resources

  • Attendance Policy for K-12 Students

If your child will be absent, email the attendance line, include the reason for the absence and a doctor’s note if applicable.

If an email and/or a doctor’s note is not received within two school days of the absence it will be recorded as an unexcused absence.

Familiarize yourself with the detailed attendance policy in our Family Handbook, linked above.

Should you have questions about the attendance policy, state requirements, or excused vs unexcused absences, please email the Attendance Line.

  • All students participating in athletics must have a completed physical form on file prior to starting practice or tryouts. This can be obtained at any well check or can be scheduled with your family doctor.

Students must submit a new physical each calendar year.

If you need a form to provide to your doctor, it can be printed here.

  • Preparing Students for the Path Ahead

Valor is pleased to offer a comprehensive College Counseling program to our high school students. Beginning in ninth grade, our curriculum and support services ensure that the process of finding the right college or university leaves our students well-prepared and confident about taking the next step in their journey. Valor’s program leads students through all aspects of college admission, including applications, resumes, essays, and college entrance exams. Moreover, Valor helps guide students to discover schools that are a good fit, navigate financial aid, and aspire to live lives of fullness and purpose.

Please visit our College Counseling site to learn more about how Valor Kyle helps to prepare students for their path ahead.

  • If you need to pick up your student(s) early for a doctor’s appointment or other reason, please send and email the day before to info.kyle@valoreducation.org.

Please include the time you need to pick up your student(s) and copy their teacher(s) so they know that the student will be leaving during the school day.

Please note that early pickup is not permitted after 2:30 PM as we are preparing for dismissal and carline.

  • The Valor Kyle Family Directory is release quarterly, with contact information for those who have opted in to share their names, student grade level, email, and/or phone number.

If you need to obtain a copy of the most recent directory, please email info.kyle@valoreducation.org.

  • Families who believe they may qualify for assistance with uniforms, athletic fees, school supplies, and free or reduced price meals are encouraged to apply each school year.

If you qualify for the program this year, you must submit a new application every year to continue to receive assistance. Applications typically become available in mid August for the upcoming school year.

We ask that all families apply, regardless of whether you feel you may qualify or want to receive assistance. This information can help our campus qualify for the maximum amount of public funding for which we are eligible.

  • If you are new to Valor, you will need to create a JupiterEd account. Jupiter connects you to:

    • your student's teachers (as the easiest way to message them),

    • progress reports and report cards,

    • important, timely information (when you setup Jupiter text alerts).

To set up your account, you will navigate to JupiterEd, click on the Parent Tab, and enter your information. You must use the same email address you used to register your child(ren) with Valor Kyle to create your account.

Once you have created and logged into your account, go to the Settings Menu and check the boxes to receive emergency text and email alerts.

If you have any trouble setting up your account or do not see all your children listed, please contact info.kyle@valoreducation.org.

  • Families arriving after the morning dropoff line has closed are required to park and walk their student(s) into the front office.

Student(s) will be considered tardy if they are not in their classroom prior to the start of the school day.

  • All K-8 students who have not been picked up when dismissal is over at 3:50 PM are sent to and supervised in the After School Program until they are picked up.

The After School program is a paid program, and charges will be incurred by families who pick up their student(s) late. There is a 5-minute grace period for late pick up, after which a $1 per minute, per child late fee will be charged.

On early release days, K-8 students not picked up by 1:20 pm will be sent to after care.

Aftercare pickup instructions can be found on the door of the front office.

  • By creating an account on MyMealTime you can view your child’s breakfast and lunch balance, see what days they ate at school, and add money to their account to cover the cost of the meals.

Families can also request to have their children’s accounts merged so they only have to add funds once to cover all their currently enrolled children.

If you have any questions about MyMealTime or your child’s lunch balance please email info.kyle@valoreducation.org.

  • Parent newsletters are sent weekly to the primary 1-2 guardians listed in SchoolAxis. If you have not been receiving the newsletter, please contact info.kyle@valoreducation.org.

  • A Culture of Contribution

Valor's PSO exists to help foster friendship and build community among Valor families.

Mission: To assist Valor Kyle in creating the highest quality classical charter school, educating the whole person in authentic communities for a full human life.

Purpose: To provide parents and guardians with a variety of ways to serve and support the Valor Kyle school community (students, faculty, and leadership) throughout the year.

Interested in learning more about how you can serve with the PSO? Feel free to email them to start a conversation.

  • A few times per year we will host “Spirit Day” on campus. This is a day that students can wear their Valor Kyle spirit gear to show their love and support for their Kingfisher community.

Details about what can be worn on each specific Spirit Day will be sent out via email and in the Parent Newsletter.

  • As part of our continual commitment to safety, we regularly practice emergency response drills on campus. A critical component of these drills is clear communication with first responders, faculty, and the parent community. You will receive Jupiter Ed notifications that indicate a drill may be happening on campus. This is to keep you informed and also to allow us to regularly practice this important communication component. Please take some time to read the document linked here for more details about our Standard Response Protocols (SRP).

  • If your family prefers a language other than English, you can easily translate any of Valor's communications in your web browser. Follow the four simple steps in this document.

  • Tutoring is available for Upper School students. Details here.

    Questions? Contact info.kyle@valoreducation.org.

  • Uniform Ordering Tips

The following is a suggestion, based on current VK family feedback:

    • Polos will most likely have to be washed after each wear for Lower School students.

    • Shorts, pants, skirts, shifts, sweaters, and oxfords can be worn multiple times before washing.

    • Suggested Uniform "Bundle" per student:

      • One Sweater

      • Three shorts (for boys or girls not wearing shifts or skirts)

      • Two pants for Upper School boys. It is best to wait until closer to when they will need these, or order a little big.

      • Two oxfords for High School boys and girls

      • Two skirts and shifts

      • Four polos for students in Kinder-8th grade

    Questions or Issues

Please contact the appropriate Assistant Headmaster with any concerns you may have regarding uniforms and compliance. You can find the name of the appropriate Assistant Headmaster in our Faculty Directory.

  • Whether you are a hobby photographer or a seasoned pro, we would love to include the pictures you take on and off campus in our school yearbook!
